After moving to Newcastle from Sydney in 2012 we decided to take the plunge and build our dream home. We are a family of six and after countless trips to display homes, a modified version of the Heathcote 35 was the perfect choice. Now the fun begins.....

Roof tiles delivered
Roof tiles were delivered yesterday and scaffolding has been put up. Let the nice weather stay for a few more weeks.! Ground floor bricks are finished so now I am assuming roof/gutters will go on first then the brickies will come back to do first floor

Photos from inspection yesterday
We had a site inspection yesterday. Bricklayers and plumbers were onsite. Plumbers were installing pipes for a bulkhead in downstairs bathroom. Bricklayers should finish ground floor by Wednesday when scaffolding will be delivered. We decided to move the downstairs bathroom window higher to fit the toilet in. Unfortunately I couldn't take photos of bricks being laid but will do so in the next day or two.

Bricklayers have arrived
Things have moved along quite smoothly this week. Bricks have arrived, concrete slab in garage has been ground down, staircase window has been installed, meter box (and security camera) are in.
The bricklayers set up today and hopefully tomorrow (Friday) they should start. We are due to meet our SS for an inspection to discuss a few things - like adding a bulkhead in the downstairs bathroom to deal with the bathroom waste upstairs in our ensuite. We also have a problem with the window in this downstairs bathroom as it is too long and the toilet cistern will be above the window. The only option is to raise this window or put in a smaller window (which is a quite wait). Will discuss this with our SS tomorrow.

Frames and windows are up
Drove past this afternoon thinking the carpenters had left early because of the miserable weather (rain and wind in the afternoon) but they were still there. Here is a pic:

Frames
Frames started to go up today. Looking really good, will post photos later. We have been waiting two weeks for this to happen but they were delayed due to the flooring system not being delivered. The carpenters completed most of the bottom floor today. According to our SS they will be back on either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday to complete the rest of the frames, top floor will be delivered on Tuesday.
Please no more delays this week!!
