It's getting closer!!!!

It's all starting to come together. Tilers were here today tiling the downstairs living/kitchen/dining area and the kitchen splash back. Timber flooring should be happening soon.

In the past week a few things have been happened

Electrical fitout (light switches, power points, data, down lights)
Airconditioning unit
Bath and taps installed for bathrooms, laundry and kitchen
Sink installed
Cupboard fitouts

Stairs have been stained but not happy with the finish. Seems like they will do another coat however still trying to get information from our supervisor whether they will be using a semi gloss or gloss. At the moment the timber looks really grainy and there seems to have been a mixup with Home Option Gallery. We requested a gloss finish like our front door and they noted on the colour selection sheet semi gloss.

Also waiting for our shower screens which have been ordered but somehow are not onsite.

I will try to take some photos in the next few days as we are now getting quotes for timber shutters, blinds, landscaping and pool. Hope we don't blow our budget. Not look forward to our blind/shutter cost and the landscaping quote was quite a shock!!!! The landscaping quote included coping around the pool (thinking of travertine pavers 400x400), retaining wall (which apparently will go all the way to the back of the fence), colour concrete around the pool area and to the alfresco area. Thinking of getting our alfresco paved in the same travertine pavers as the coping, or possibly going back to Di Lorenzo and see if they have an external tile to match our indoor Stone Smooth tile. The landscaper will also use some of the fill from the pool for the side of the house and level out the back ready for turf laying later.

The pool is from Barrier Reef Pools - Sahara pool 7.4m x 3.4m .

The colour will be electric grey as shown below

NOW THE BIG QUESTION. Where are going to getting the keys? The is the one answer our Supervisor does not want to give me yet!

Tiling for kitchen/dining/lounge to start on Tuesday followed by bamboo flooring for rest of ground floor area

Back to work after XMAS break

The painters started last week - finally some action is happening after the Christmas break.  Found out from our SS today that he is still aiming for completion end of February which is good news. He is still not happy with the plasterers. The painters have done the undercoat and marked up spots which plasterers have to fix. Our SS was also marking up (again) spots they also need to fix. Plasterers should be there tomorrow and Wednesday (hopefully for the last time) and painters back on Thursday to paint the top coat.

In the meantime we have been furniture shopping as the January sales are currently on.  So far we have purchased a new double bed and mattress for our eldest child.

Really love the colour of this lounge from Freedom Furniture for the family room. Will go  back this week and purchase it for delivery end of February.

Still need to organise purchase of a corner lounge for the home theatre. We can custom design this lounge so it will be a corner lounge without a chaise but with a sofa bed. Have to go back to Lounges Plus to pick a colour - so many choices for grey

Painting is delayed

We met with our SS this week and were informed internal painting has been delayed until after Christmas.

Our SS will return on the 6 January and the painters will start in the New Year and should be finished in time for the plumbing fit on the 20 January.

All that is left to do is:

. painting (internal walls, ceilings, cornices, architraves, front and internal doors, stairs, handrail, change colour of front porch) however plasterers have to come back to fix up their mistakes for a second time.

. plumbing fitout (taps, shower screens, bath, handrails)

. electrical  fit out (airconditioning, alarm, power points, light fittings and switches)

. wardrobe and linen press, pantry fitout

. termite reticulation system (apparently the last stage of this system will not be done until the     landscaping is finished)

. water tank to be moved and slab to be extended to accommodate air-conditioning unit

. bamboo flooring and floor tiles for downstairs area, carpet for upstairs area, final stain of staircase, kitchen mosaic splash back

. driveway

. concrete in garage floor area to be sealed

Cant think of anything else but I am sure I am forgotten something. Would love to be in the house by the end of February but really not sure at this stage.

Everything is coming together

Just a quick update. Stairs have been installed and they look fantastic. Pity Genneral Stairs ran out of balustrades - some how they were three boxes short so I will post pics later this week.

Carpenter turned up yesterday and installed all the doors and most of the skirtings/architraves.

Kitchen should be delivered end of this week. Finally I can see it all coming together after waiting 9 months (that is when we had our appointments with the kitchen/bathroom/colour consultants).

I met with our Site Supervisor yesterday and we are now two days behind schedule. So far so good. Hope we can move in some time in February.
